CNRP Feels Need to Reiterate Opposition Party Status

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times)--After mounting criticism over several photographs on social media showing the head of the Cambodia National Rescue Party Sam Rainsy and Prime Minister Hun Sen spending time together over the Khmer New Year holiday, the opposition party Vice President Kem Sokha felt the need to clarify the party’s stance to supporters in a CNRP rally on Monday.

“I would like to reaffirm that the CNRP is not a political party inside [the ruling] government, and doesn't follow the ruling party," said CNRP vice president Kem Sokha in Kompang Chnnang province at a supporter rally.

"Instead, the CNRP is the opposition party that has to overcome the ruling party in order to lead the country in the future to save our nation," he said.

"The CNRP goal is still the same. That's change."
