Lewis Hamilton won the Formula One World Championship today after storming to victory in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a faultless performance.

Hamilton, 29, gained his second drivers' title while his rival, team mate and childhood friend Nico Rosberg, struggled with mechanical problems.

Prince Harry came on the Mercedes team radio immediately after the race to congratulate the British driver, calling him an 'absolute legend'.

Hamilton's girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, 36, looked nervous as she arrived at the track this morning but was joyful as her man crossed the finish line.

The 30-year-old prince, who was in the Mercedes garage, congratulated Hamilton over the team radio.
